History
This is another early development located on the former property of the Eastons’ Black Hawk Ranch. At one time, a Chinese shrimp farm operated on the shores of the Bay near present day Cadillac Way, where the current Rector Porsche Audi car dealership stands. Winchester Drive reveals the name of another former resident. Sarah Winchester, the heiress to the Winchester rifle fortune, maintained a house-boat on the shores of the Bay near the eucalyptus trees just south of present day Anza Boulevard. Corbitt Avenue is named after William Corbitt, the owner of a horse-breeding farm—San Mateo Stock farm—that used to occupy the grounds of present day Burlingame High School. Residents of Burlingame Gardens enjoy its proximity to the high school (and its track and pool) and its proximity to both Broadway and Burlingame Avenue, as well as its easy access to 101.
